Carte blanche

For this exclusive show, the members of Karkwa have personally selected the artists who will precede them on stage: Seattle's Fleet Foxes and New Brunswick trio Les Hay Babies.

Directed by the talented Brigitte Poupart, the show will highlight Karkwa's intense rock music on the grand Bell Stage at the Plains of Abraham. It will include several unique collaborations and special guests, such as Marie-Pierre Arthur, Les Hay Babies, Klo Pelgag, and CRi, along with other surprises.

Formed in 1998, Karkwa explored before finding their musical identity, which was solidified in 2005 with the release of their second album, Les tremblements s’immobilisent. Karkwa instantly gained critical and public acclaim, building a reputation as a live performance powerhouse. In 2011, Karkwa released Les chemins de verre, their landmark work that won the prestigious Polaris Music Prize for the best album of the year in Canada, making it the first – and so far the only – entirely French-language album to receive this honor.

Fourteen years of influencing the Quebec music scene has left its mark: numerous awards including about ten Félix Awards, and several hundred concerts, including Canadian and North American tours, as well as many visits to Europe.

2023 finally marks the reunion of Karkwa, with a new album and a tour that crosses the Atlantic for a few dates in France.
