Maten

The Innu band Maten is from Mani-Utenam in the Côte Nord region of Quebec, anchored between the shores of the St. Lawrence and the boreal forest. Musicians Mathieu Mckenzie, Samuel Pinette and Kim Fontaine have played on hundreds of stages throughout Quebec since the late 1990s. The band is committed to its community, its language and its Innu roots, all of which can be heard on their latest album Utenat (The Big City), with texts that convey their values, culture and the pride they have for their Indigenous heritage.
