When the Prix international de la chanson francophone was created in 1989, Festival d'été de Québec's purpose was to pay tribute to creators and organizations who ensure the French song.
Three annual prizes are now awarded.
The Espoir FEQ Award winner is determined by a comittee of professionals from music industry*. The selection criterias are the exceptional nature of the artistic proposal, scenic performance quality, potential international influence and the general enthousiasm raised by the artist.

The two other nominees are awarded a 1,000$ bursary each from Sirius XM.

The Prix FEQ Award, presented by the Festival’s programmers since 2010, recognizes and rewards young musicians with an original artistic approach. They're selected in various specialized professional gatherings or other festivals, nationally and internationally.
