Born in Guadeloupe, singer and pianist Malika Tirolien grew up in a family where music held an important place. Moving to Montreal to study jazz, she contributed her powerful voice to the Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba from 2010 to 2012. Her performance caught the attention of American jazz fusion group Snarky Puppy, inviting the young woman to collaborate on two songs on their Grammy Award-winning album Family Dinner - Volume 1. Released in 2014, Malika’s first album, Sur la voie ensoleillée, contains 15 tracks rooted in jazz and R&B, along with many other musical influences. Her second album, HIGHER (2021), continues in similar directions with a plural soul sound, what she calls highsoul, where hip hop, jazz, electro and R&B converge in music that is warm, airy and enveloping.
